Gallerie d’Italia museum belongs to Intesa Sanpaolo bank that is making its artistic and architectural heritage available to the public. This project includes 4 museums in the heart of their respective cities: Milan, Naples, Turin, Vicenza.

Milano’s museum is in Piazza della Scala and is a complex of 3 historic palaces and a garden in the heart fo the city.

  • Palazzo Brentani
  • Palazzo Anguissola
  • Palazzo Beltrami
  • Giardino Alessandro Manzoni

Palazzo Beltrami is the former headquarter of a bank (Banca Commerciale Italiana) and in fact you can still walk through old bank counters and the once unaccessible caveau while visiting the museum rooms.

The buildings themselves are worth a visit and the museum hosts important permanent collections of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in addition to temporary exhibitions and initiatives that may change from time to time.

Gallerie d’Italia Milano is literally few steps from La Scala Theater, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the Duomo itself.
