The Monumental Cemetery of Milano (Cimitero Monumentale) was opened in the end of the 19th century and it is located not far from the futuristic Porta Nuova District and the China Town of Milano as well.

Many graves belong to famous and prominent figures or families that left their mark in the history of Milano.

The necropolis complex and the graves are a sumptuous mix of different styles (e.g. Art Nouveau, Contemporary, Romanesque, Greek, Byzantine, Gothic, Classical) and you can find temples, mausoleums, obelisks, statues and even pyramids. In fact it is considered an open-air museum.

A walk in this graveyard is definitely worth when visiting Milano, you can easily get there through the dedicated metro station of the Line 5: Monumentale

The entrance is free and you can also book a guided tour, please check the official website for more information and opening times.
